Head Coach

Chris

Chris

“I have been coaching at the club for nearly 20 years and have been Head Coach since 2011. I started when 2 of my daughters took up the sport and, in this time I have become a qualified Level 4 Women’s Artistic Coach, a level 3 General Gymnastics Coach and a level 3 Freestyle coach. I am also a Club Judge and judge at County and Regional competitions and have managed to wangle my way onto the Cumbria Gymnastics Association committee as Vice-Chairman. I coach all levels from our beginners to the advanced group and enjoy watching all our gymnasts perform some amazing skills and just having fun together. Although I was never a gymnast myself, if pushed I can perform an incredibly basic bar routine and have been known to do a handspring vault.”

Level 3's

Julian

Julian

“I'm Julian Camp and I’ve been a coach for the past 16 years, having been introduced to the sport by my 2 daughters who both started gymnastics at a young age, and are now both coaches themselves! I'm a Level 3 General Gymnastics Coach & a level 2 Women's Artistic coach and I have attended Level 3 modules. My coaching nights are Monday and Friday (advanced group), Tuesday nights (intermediate / advanced group). I enjoy coaching all 4 apparatus with the bars probably being my favourite piece.”

Joanne

Joanne

“I have been coaching at Kendal Gymnastics Club since 2003. I am a qualified Level 2 coach in Women's Artistic Gymnastics and have attended Level 3 modules. I am also a Level 3 in General Gymnastics. I have a Club Judge qualification and regularly Judge at Regional and National Competitions. I coach the advanced group on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening and run the Recreation and Development Classes on Sundays. Along with Abigail I help to choreograph and polish routines for competition in our 'Sparkle' sessions. I have always had a passion for gymnastics since I was a young gymnast myself at this club. My favourite pieces to coach are the floor and beam because I like the artistic elements required to perform the routines.”

Level 2s

 Victoria

Victoria

“I am a Qualified Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics coach, safeguarding, child protection and first aid trained. I Coach all ages from 5 to oldies. Mainly at the moment the club tinys, and the Tuesday Thursday 10 - 12's (team Vics) who clearly are the best! But I do enjoy coaching any of the groups as they are all great hardworking children. I really enjoy watching the children develop their skills working hard to accomplish things they never thought they would. Lessons they can use for life. But I must say, I also quite like it when they win big shiny medals!”

Abigail

Abigail

“I have been involved at Kendal Gymnastics Club since I was 8 years old when I started as a gymnast. After retiring, I went into coaching and I am currently a Level 2 Women’s Artistic coach. I coach on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, in both beginners and advanced groups, and spend some Sundays choreographing and polishing floor routines alongside Joanne. I am also a qualified Club Judge and enjoy judging at regional competitions. My favourite things to coach are the floor and beam, as you are coaching not only moves, but artistry as well.”

Level 1s

 Lindsey

Lindsey

“I am a level 1 coach and help coach on a Sunday with the Recreation and Development classes. I really enjoy coaching on a Sunday - I love the sense of achievement when a gymnast masters a new skill and seeing the smile on their face is fantastic. My daughter Millie trains on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, however I don't coach her as it would be a bit too scary on many levels! I am also Chair of the committee and I am really proud to be part of such a brilliant club.”

We have some coaches who may not be there regularly but occasionally help us in the Gym

“I've been coaching for 6 years and I am a Level 2 Women's Artistic coach. I'm currently at university, but when I'm back I coach whenever I'm needed with any group! Before coaching I was a gymnast for 11 years, and my favourite piece is beam and my favourite move is an Aerial.”

“I am a level 1 coach who got involved because I was spending so much time at the club with my daughter Alice. I coach in the Recreation and Development classes on Sunday and have done so since the classes started. My favourite piece both from when I was a gymnast and now as a coach is beam.”
